We were shooting in the studio space at Photofusion, which I’d never used before but I can say now is a fantastic studio to work in. They’ve pretty much thought of everything to make it a really workable space to use. Our models for the day were Ellen herself modeling her own hats as well as some of Anna’s knitwear and another friend of ours Tina modeling some of the knitwear as well. Our friend Emily also came along to hangout and soon found that meant she was put to work helping with finishing touches on some of the knitwear pieces!
It was a busy busy day filled with much laughter and many photos. I think a good time was had by all. After the jump is a few of my favorite shots from the day.
We started with Ellen’s hats on the day, so I’ll start with them here. This is one of my favorite shots from the morning. All of Ellen’s hats are stunning pieces but the crown was just a delightful bit of whimsy that made for a great photo with some of the great faces Ellen was pulling.
Right, last one cause I could go on and on as there were so many shots I loved from that shoot. What I like about this is it was a completely off the cuff shot. We had just started taking photos of this sweater and were all chatting away when something just made us all laugh. I think it was a remark Emily made off from the side but it had Ellen burst out laughing. I quickly snapped a shot and I think it turned out wonderfully with a very natural and fun flare to it.
So that’s all I got here cause as I said, I could go on and on. If you want to see my selection from the set, you can check them out here: Hats & Knits Studio Shoot.
Overall it was a great day playing in the studio. Ellen & Tina were fantastic models and it was a great pleasure to get to take photos of Ellen & Anna’s work. I love handcrafted work because it has something special about it from all the detail that goes into it from the creator. They’re both create amazing things so do go check out their sites and see more of their work.
I had such a blast doing the shoot it made me realize I should do these arranged photo shoots more often. I know Anna is already wanting to do shoot like this at some point again when she’s got more samples knit up. Ellen & I chatted about doing some on location shots with her hats around the city when it gets warmer as well. And I’ve got a few ‘project’ ideas in mind that I’m sure could be turned into some studio time. So it will be a start at doing more prepared shooting work.
