I did another photoshoot for Anna of OneHandKnits for a knitting pattern she was submitting to the popular online knitting magazine, Knitty. It is an adorable baby blanket that is made of multicolored pie circles. We actually did two photo shoots for it.
The first was in the early autumn when it was still warm enough to be out in the back yard. We were trying to get our friend Sarah’s youngest, Elias, to pose for us on the blanket. I got about five shots before he decided he was having none of it and wailed until we let him wander off. So we took some static ones of the blanket on the grass and called it a day.
Then a few months later, Anna heard back that her pattern had been accepted for the Spring/Summer issue but they wanted some better photographs of it as it didn’t look very straight edged in the shots from outside on the grass and they wanted something more sunny if possible. By this point though, it was December so photographing outside was going to be a no go from a temperature perspective and being London there is no such thing as sunny weather in winter. So we did a quick afternoon shot indoors instead and aimed for fun and playful.
It was a bright enough day there was great lighting from the big windows which made it easy and I didn’t have to fuss with using a flash. We tried to get Elias to pose for us again but he was still of the mind this modeling game was not so much fun. However, Sarah’s daughter Esme was more than happy to play along as model. She’s such a cheeky little gal and always has a look like she’s about to be up to some mischief, which made for some great shots.
